25th Annual Big Bend Saltwater Classic

On Father's Day weekend 2013 the Big Bend Saltwater Classic will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. For this special occasion, we will be moving the headquarters back to the Moorings in Carrabelle where the tournament was held for many years. We are excited to renew this great tradition. With over $50,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, you've got plenty of reasons to come celebrate with us June 14th-16th at the 25th annual BBSC.

Gag Grouper

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) established this regional season at its February Commission meeting to provide fishing opportunities for private recreational anglers when gag grouper are closer to shore and can be safely accessed by smaller boats. Overall fishing effort for gag grouper is low in these counties, because it is the least densely populated region of Florida’s Gulf Coast. Providing this spring season will balance the economic and social needs of this region with the conservation needs of gag grouper.

Register before 7:00 pm on June 30th 2012 and you will automatically be entered into two drawings sponsored by Kevin’s Fine Outdoor Gear and Apparel. The drawings will be held at 7:30 pm on June 30th 2012 at Krewe De Gras during our Tallahassee captain’s party. Items being raffled are an Icey-Tek Cooler and a Native Kayak. Entrants do not have to be present to win these prizes.

2012 Big Bend Saltwater Classic Trophy Room App Contest

HOW IT WORKS:

Anglers take pictures of fish caught on days of tournament and enter it into their iPhone Trophy Room App.

Anglers then submit their pictures by using the "Email Photo" function of the Trophy Room App. Email to bbsc@trophyroomapp.com

All entries must be submitted by 11pm, Saturday July 7th, 2012.

A drawing will be held during the awards ceremony from all the entries received.

Registration for the 24th Annual Big Bend Saltwater Classic will open on Friday June 1, 2012. Anglers who register online will receive a $10 discount.

BBSC is proud to announce that Fishing For the Brave has partnered with us for the 2012 tournament! Fishing For the Brave has agreed to assume responsibility for our take a soldier fishing initiative. Our brave service members have sacrificed so much for our freedom, let’s show our appreciation by putting them on the water for some good fun!

Big Bend Saltwater Classic

The date for the Big Bend Saltwater Classic has changed from June 15th – 17th to July 6th – 8th.

After careful consideration, BBSC's Board of Directors unanimously voted on January 11, 2012 to change the date of the 24th annual Big Bend Saltwater Classic to July 6th – 8th. This date change will allow our anglers to fish for gag grouper during tournament weekend. The National Marine Fisheries Service has indicated that harvest of gag grouper will be permitted from July 1, 2012 through October 31, 2012 in federal waters. The proposed annual quota is for 2012 is 1,232,000 pounds. Once this quota is reached, harvest of gag grouper will no longer be allowed.
